Au gré du oud

The oud, "sultan of musical instruments", is the instrument par excellence of Arab culture, then omnipresent in Turkish-Ottoman, Persian and Central Asian culture. During his career as a musician, Tristan Driessens has travelled extensively throughout the Orient: from the Balkans to Central Asia, via Morocco, Greece and Turkey. At Festivalito, he'll be talking to us about the great Eastern musical culture that fascinates him, a culture based on poetry and modal improvisation, heterophony, asymmetrical rhythms and micro-tonality...
